OVER 50 inspiring walks taking in some of East Lindsey most important historical and geological sites are planned as part of the 2008 Wolds Walking Festival that begins on May 17.
The 16-day festival includes a variety of walks all led by knowledgeable guides, who will show walkers some of the areas most breathtaking views.
Karen East, Tourism Officer, at East Lindsey District Council, said: “This is an annual festival that continues to go from strength to strength, providing an opportunity to explore the beauty of our district and see some of the hidden gems that we so often overlook.
“The programme has been put together to ensure there are walks suitable for everyone, from short level routes accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs to longer more challenging walks for experienced ramblers.
“Most of the walks are free and all allow us to discover our district in the best way possible – on foot,” she said.
A special launch event has been organised and this takes place at the disused quarry in Welton Le Wold on May 17, between 10am and 4pm.
The event will include a series of short walks looking at points of interest around the disused quarry as well as a longer walk from Louth to Welton le Wold. There will also be the opportunity to try your hand at stilt, globe and tight rope walking and take part in a mini beast hunt to see what insects you can spot.
There will be exhibits, face painting and entertainment throughout the day, fun for all the family.
