ELDC Commitment to Skegness Southern Foreshore Development
Businesses and community will be at the heart of redevelopment in Skegness
FOLLOWING recent reports in Skegness’ local newspapers, East Lindsey District Council would like to reaffirm its commitment to working with the local community and businesses to redevelop Skegness’ Southern Foreshore.
The initial phase of consultation will be underway shortly with the Working Group. Skegness Town Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Skegness Foreshore Traders, Skegness and District Chamber of Commerce, Skegness Hoteliers, Skegness Civic Society, East Lindsey District Council and the Environment Agency have all been invited to sit on this group as key stakeholders.
This group will be responsible for establishing some of the key aspects developers will need to look at as part of the draft proposals they submit.
As part of the selection process for a preferred developer, a wider public consultation exercise will be held allowing residents and other interested parties to submit their views on the proposed developments.
Councillor Neil Cooper, Portfolio Holder for Coastal Regeneration, said: “I have said it before and I will say it again, I assure residents that, on my watch, there will be meaningful consultation with residents and views will be taken on board by all of the local groups and developers involved in this exciting project.”
