New Fashion amongst Butlins Holiday Camp Bathing Beauties
Young girls holidaymaking at Butlins Skegness in 1938 devised the latest fashion fad.
As the girls were sunbathing, they stuck motifs onto their bodies to block out the sun. This left decotative white patches on an otherwise suntanned body.
The girls cut designs out of gummed paper, the most popular being initials and lucky signs.
