Gas Attack in Grosvenor Road
CAR HITS LAMP-POST CAUSING GAS LEAK (1935)
Early on Saturday afternoon last a car owned by Mr. E. Tinkler accidentally collided with a lamp post in Grosvenor Road.
We understand that the driver in avoiding a dog, swerved to the side of the road, and unavoidedly crashed into the lamp post, which was laid low.
The gas pipe was severed, with the result that gas was escaping very freely until fitters from the Gas Works repaired the damage. The car was able to drive away under its own power.
