Boating Lake Illuminations
For the first time in history a portion of the Skegness Foreshore was on Monday evening bathed in electric light.
The effect was certainly excellent and crowds of visitors were attracted to the boating lake, round which festoons of electric light bulbs were suspended.
The enterprise is that of the Advancement Association and Mr Butlin of the North Parade Amusements, the latter supplying the engine, cable etc.
The blaze of light enables boating to be indulged in the shade of the evening, and a large number enjoyed a novel half-hour on Monday evening.
“Rain stopped play” last night, but the illuminations will be continued nightly until Saturday evening next, the normal charge for boating of 6d per half-hour remaining in operation.
