RESCUED DOG FROM BOATING LAKE - SKEGNESS BOY’S BRAVE VENTURE
When a dog, attempting to cross the thin ice covering the Skegness Boating Lake at noon last Sunday, fell through and was in imminent danger of being drowned, there came to the rescue a teen-age Skegness boy, Stanley Richardson, of 27 Tennyson Green.
The dog was struggling some distance from the bank, but Stanley’s ingenuity was equal to the occasion and, laying a ladder across the ice, he cautiously progressed in the dog’s direction.
The ice, however, proved unequal to the combined weight, and the young rescuer got a sudden ducking in the icy water. Nevertheless he was able to reach the dog and bring it safely ashore, the fact that he had undoubtedly saved its life being some compensation for his soaked Sunday suit !
