Steam Train Ludborough Railway Heritage Museum England

news story date 19th Oct 2005

The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is the only standard gauge steam railway in Lincolnshire which is open to the public. The location is part of the original Great Northern Railway, which opened in 1848. Currently the line stretches from Ludborough to North Thoresby, and more track is planned as funds permit.
The highlight of the museum’s exhibits is the recreation of the yesteryear Steam Engine.

The video shows firstly the Engine Driver stoking the fire. Shoveling in the coal soon gets the fires roaring

The train driver gives a short demonstration of the levers and instruments and then with a final Whoo! Whoo! the steam engine chugs off over the level crossing and down the line pulling its passenger coaches.

The video also shows the old level crossing controls, signal box and signals.
