Mayor sings at Karaoke charity bash
Would-be stars battled it out for first prize at the Karaoke Finals held at the Seaview Pub in Skegness this evening.
The event was organised by the Seaview Pub to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity, the Skegness Lifeboat.
Judges (pictured below) included (left to right) Deputy Mayor of Skegness, Coun Neil Pimperton; Mayoress, Mrs Deborah Milner and Mayor of Skegness, Coun Ken Milner.
Thirteen talented hopefuls impressed the judges with songs which included ‘Perfect’, ‘Green, Green Grass of Home’, ‘My Way’ and Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’.
The highlight of the evening just had to be the ‘Sponsored Yawp’ – the Mayor, Town Councillors and the Target local newspaper photographer took to the stage to treat everyone to their (unique) version of ‘My Way’, whilst a collection bucket was circulating around the pub. I wasn’t quite sure, though, whether people were donating to encourage them to sing or to get them to stop! Judging by the rapturous applause they received at the end of the ‘yawp’, I was confident it was the former!
And, you’ve guessed it, folks, every (painful?) note was recorded on camcorder!

It was certainly a fantastic evening full of fun and frivolity – and all for a good cause!

Well done to ALL of the contestants who entered the karaoke competition to help raise money for the Skegness Lifeboat. It certainly takes some nerve to get behind the mike! It was good to see some young lads channeling their energy into something worthwhile when so many of their counterparts sadly persue pathways of anti-social behaviour.
