Party Time after Skegness Fire
It’s party time is Skegness!
Skegness held a Grand Party today to celebrate the re-opening of Grand Parade after the Skegness Fire.
And what a grand party it was!
Crowds gathered around the Clock Tower and on Grand Parade.
The procession made its way along Tower Esplanade, round the Clock Tower and into Grand Parade.
Cheers, applause and whoops of delight and thanks rang out as the Fire Engine heading the parade broke through the cordons to signify the re-opening of Grand Parade after the fire that gutted the Parade Complex last Thursday night. Hundreds of baloons were release as the Fire Service approached:
The moment was captured by Paul Gooch:

Fred Doyles, manager of the Skegness Ex-Servicemen’s Club frantically waved a Union Jack flag from the balcony of the club in a gesture of thanks to the Fire Brigade and the Police Service. The club was saved from the raging fire by the hard work of the emergency services. The Ex-Servicemen’s Club is now the only part of the 1879 Victorian buildings on Skegness seafront which was saved during the tragic events of last week.

The special party event was organised by the Skegness Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with East Lindsey District Council. Entertainment included the Butlins Land Train, jugglers, roving musicians and the Jolly Fisherman.
The Janice Sutton Dancers, pictured below, and the Cast of the VBar (below) supported the celebrations with true community spirit, delighting onlookers during the parade.

The Party Celebrations were indeed a moving experience, especially when the crowd applauded as the Fire and Police Services approched!
Skegness demonstrated its true community spirit after its recent tragedy!

Great video Angela (as always). I wish I could have been there but unfortunately was out of the County working.
I’ve just returned to see the two local ‘rags’. The Standards coverage was pathetic. The Target on the other hand should be congratulated!!!
See you soon
John
I missed the Grand Parade grand re-opening parade (!), so thanks for the great video - it warms the cockles of the heart to see everyone pulling together.
