Young girl blooded at fox hunt
Fourteen year old Sylvia Levers, The Grange, Fishtoft, was present at the Boxing Day kill of the South Wolds hunt, and, as is the custom, she was ‘blooded’ by the Master, Mr Donald Burt. This is a ceremony in hunting circles, and Sylvia had her face smeared with the blood of the animal. She was also presented with the fox’s brush.
The only daughter of Mr and Mrs W E Levers, she has been a member of the South Wolds Hunt branch of the Pony Club for three years. Sylvia has attended many meetings and herself possesses two ponies, Gipsy and Gip.
Tuesday’s meeting was at Horncastle and the fox was grounded and killed at Woodhall after a two mile run.
