Mystery Skegness Building

This is definately a photo of Skegness, Fredrica Terrace is there on Grand Parade, Osbert House on the southern end of the terrace.

But look what’s in place of the Clock Tower. It’s a windmill. And not just any old windmill, but a comparitively rare eight-sailed windmill.

We know that Frederica Terrace was approaching completion by 1879 and the Clock Tower was completed in 1899, so this dates the photo somewhere between these years.

So what happened to the windmill?

We hold original copies of the Skegness Herald from 1882 to 1901 so you can rest assured that we will scour these for clues! Best check back soon for the latest news!
