Skegness Offshore Windfarm

Work is well underway erecting the new windfarm 5km off Skegness beach.

The project has been developed by Centrica and is expected to produce power for 130,000 homes and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

The picture below is a captured camframe of the installation vessell Resolution.

The vessell is presently laying the platforms (orange-coloured verticals) for the wind turbines. Around half a dozen platforms are already in place and when complete, there will be 27 in total.

The windfarm installation off Skegness is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.

  1. My friend and I went to Skegness yesterday and were disgusted with the way the seascape has been ruined by these monstrosities! Had we have known before hand that they had been erected we would have gone elsewhere!

  2. I recently visited Skegness for the first time for a break, I love the sea and everything that goes with it, but I do have to say the windfarm is a real eyesore it is horrible.
I am in favour of wind farms and come from an area of Lancashire that has plenty around upon the hills. But could they not have put them further out at sea it totally ruins the seaside experience, what a shame..
