Skegness Illuminations Switch On 2007
TELEVISION Superstar, singer and actor, Shane Richie will be in Skegness on Saturday, July 28 to switch on the resorts’ summer illuminations.
Shane is something of a showbiz jack-of-all-trades. Having appeared in shows like The Big Breakfast and Win, Lose Or Draw, Shane became a bona fide star in the role of Queen Vic landlord Alfie Moon in Eastenders, in which he was voted best actor and sexiest star. He has also stared in several musicals - including Boogie Nights, which he co-wrote and co-produced; and Grease, which broke Box Office records. He has also released two albums and written a best selling autobiography ‘Rags to Richie’
The switch-on ceremony itself organised by East Lindsey District Council, kicks off with free musical entertainment at the Clock Tower from 7.30pm. At 8.45pm a procession will make its way down Grande Parade toward the switch-on point entertaining the crowds. The procession will include the North East Lincolnshire Pipe Band, Redcoats and characters from Butlins, the Butlins Road Train and the Skegness Carnival Queen, Carnival Princess, Rosebud Princess, the resort mascot the Jolly Fisherman and more.
Shane will flick the switch to light up the town at 9.45pm. This will then be followed by a magnificent firework display.

With all of the Nation being told to turn off unwanted lights to help the environment I think councils should set an example and ban illuminations like these…
