The Late Raymond Baxter OBE of Tomorrow’s World
Raymond Baxter’s visit to East Kirkby Heritage Aviation Museum, Lincolnshire
We have re-released the following footage as a tribute to Raymond Baxter who died on the 15th September 2006 aged 84. Mr Baxter presented the popular BBC science and technology programme, Tomorrow’s World for 12 years from its launch in 1965. He was a commentator at major events including the maiden flight of Concord.
Raymond Baxter died at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berks. His family, daughter Jenny Douglas, 49, and his son Dr Graham Baxter, 55, were at his side.
They said that he was working right up to the day he was admitted to hospital. Raymond Baxter OBE, presenter of the TV programme ‘Tomorrow’s World’, visited the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Museum at East Kirkby near Spilsby recently….


Mr Baxter, a former World War 2 Spitfire pilot, was signing copies of his new book ‘Tales of my Time’
Other Spitfire pilots and veterans of the Fighter Command were also at the event signing Mr Baxter’s book or any other personal items as requested.
The video shows scenes of the TV Personality, along with shots of World War 2 vehicles and model aeroplanes.
