Captain John Smith - Local Author book signings

AS part of the celebrations commemorating the 400th anniversary of Captain John Smith’s landing in Virginia, there will be two book-signing events at East Lindsey District Council’s Louth Tourist Information Centre.

The first, on Wednesday, July 11 when Sue Allen, author of The Mayflower Maid and Jamestown Women, together with Roger Vorhauer, a descendent of Pocahontas, will be visiting the Tourist Information Centre from 10.30am. Sue will be dressed in full 1600’s costume, whilst Roger will be dressed in buckskins. There will be a small display of armour and Jamestown replicas. Sue and Roger’s Mayflower Maid was the first novel to be co-written entirely across the Atlantic using the Internet. The novel was voted one of the best reads of 2005 by BBC Radio 4’s Open Book reader Poll.

Captain John Smith On Saturday July 14, from 10.30am until 12.30pm, again at Louth Tourist Information Centre, there will be a book signing by local writer, lecturer and independent adviser to schools, John Haden. John has written a number of books in conjunction with local schools about Captain John Smith. These books include Captain John Smith of Willoughby and the founding of America, Admiral of New England - Captain John Smith and the American Dream, Mrs John Rolfe of Heacham (better know as Pocahontas), William Brewster of the Pilgrim Fathers and Bartholomew Gosnold of Otley and America.
