From Saturday May 19, 2007, until Sunday June 3, 2007, hundreds of walkers will be heading to Lincolnshire for the third Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival.
This year’s festival is action packed with over 60 walks, with many of the walks tempting new visitors with special themes.
Visitors are encouraged to walk the Wolds and find out how local man Captain John Smith’s voyage of discovery from England led to the founding of Jamestown in Virginia, US, celebrating the 400th anniversary.
Walkers exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds can also join a Tennyson walk and discover the landscape that inspired Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Sample some of Lincolnshire’s fresh local produce with Festival walks that feature local ‘Tastes of Lincolnshire’ tea rooms and pubs.
The 16 days of great walking in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounding countryside provide the perfect opportunity to explore the enchanting countryside in Lincolnshire.
Karen East, Economic Development Officer for East Lindsey District Council, said the festival programme has been put together to ensure there are walks suitable for everyone, from short level routes accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs to longer more challenging routes for the experienced rambler.”
She adds: “The feedback from the two previous Festivals’ has been extremely positive with a growing number of visitors coming to Lincolnshire for the Walking Festival.”
