Seaside resorts fly the flag of quality
BEACHES in Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea have all been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag status again this year, an internationally recognised honour only awarded to those beaches that meet the most stringent criteria.
Award by Environmental Charity, Encams, the Blue Flag announcements have come hot on the heels of the Quality Seaside Award, announced last month.
The beaches, all managed by East Lindsey District Council, met criteria such as beach cleanliness, environmental management, facilities and information available to the public, ranking them among the best in the world.
The District Council’s Team Leader of Resorts and Open Spaces, Bob Suich, is delighted that the flags will be flying again this year: “This acknowledgment backs up what we already know - we have fantastic beaches.
“Cleanliness is key to this success and we have a dedicated team working hard throughout the year to ensure this award is achievable.
We also work tirelessly to ensure the rigorous criteria such as dog control, provision of litter bins, public convenience provision and, of course, water quality, are met,” he said.
