Music Videos

My selection of nostalgic music videos

from the 60s and 70s

Remember the ‘good old days’ when Pan’s People danced on Top of the Pops?

When I was a young girl about fifteen years old I remember being glued to the TV watching my favourite glam rock groups. I implored my dad to get a colour TV instead of black and white so I could see the colours of Pan’s People’s outfits!

I sat there swooning over Gary Glitter with his huge platform boots, Brian Connolly from The Sweet with his gorgeous long blonde hair and Rick Parfit from Status Quo with his sexy tight denim jeans!

I adored Alice Cooper and was more into heavy metal from Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.

‘Paranoid’ by Black Sabbath constantly blasted out from my bedroom. The faint sounds of Dad shouting ‘turn that trash down!!!’ in the distance.

As in every era, the 60s and 70s had their ‘cheesey’ songs in the hit parade - I’ve included some of those here, too!

It’s absolutely fantastic that these pop groups and their videos live on through YouTube and the kind people who have posted the videos. A BIG THANK YOU to them all!

Enjoy my collection…

Cheesey Videos

Perhaps a little unfair but ‘Chirpy, Chirpy Cheep Cheep’ or what? 70s pop group, Middle of the Road does the honours in the next 1971 TOTP video.

Check out the ‘hot pants’ and long boots, it’s fashionable for the young girls wear them today but we got there first in the 70s!

The Gems of Music History

Just loved this one, ‘Bend It’ by Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch, 1968.

The clip is from Pathe News Archives and show the dance that was peculiar to this particular song.

Space travel reached its pinnacle when man first stepped onto the moon in 1969.

This achievement was first reflected in the musical industry when Dave Bowie released his ‘Space Oddessy in November of 1969.

Pink Floyd’s ‘Tigers Broke Free’ epitomises the futility of war. Seen here set to poignent World War 2 footage by a YouTube user.
