Extreme Sports activities are on the increase in Skegness. Today saw the official opening of the Xsite Skate Park on the North Shore pullover in Skegness.
Many VIPs from Skegness, including the Mayor, along with skateboarders and BMX bikers were treated to a professional display of stunt bikes and skateboard tricks.
below:The stunt riders showed total control over their bikes as they jumped up and down the levels, balancing on metal ladder rungs, outside the centre.

Inside the Skate Park there are purpose built ramps and the stunt riders demonstrated their excellent skills performing various spins and jumps on the BMX bikes.

Skegness Mayor, Coun Brian O’Connor, posed with two of the riders and the bikes for a local newspaper.

Mr Mayor thought about demonstrating his BMX skills on the steep ramps, but wisely decided against it as he had left his protective headgear at home. So the spectators had to be satisfied with a slow roll down a 1 in (seemingly) 1000 incline!

Paul Johnson, County Council Development Officer, addressed the VIPs and other spectators, saying that the project had taken six years to come to fruition. He thanked the numerous local sponsors for their efforts and support in the project.
